The City issued a Request for Qualifications for architectural design services for the Fire Station No.2 Relocation Project on January 31, 2020. Five firms submitted qualifications for consideration and three were invited for interviews on March 13, 2020 by the staff-selection committee consisting of Fire Chief Chris Fitch, Assistant Fire Chief Adam Darling, Public Works Director Robert Rivera and Economic Development Director Charles Rudd. After each of the firm's presentations, the committee concluded that the best qualified firm was Wannemacher Jensen Architects. The firms were ranked in the following order after the interviews and evaluation process as outlined in RFQ 20-009:
1. Wannemacher Jensen Architects
2. Spring Engineering Architects
3. Fleischman Garcia Architects
