The request of staff for the City Council is to review and consider for approval the attached change order submitted by Augustine Construction, Inc. in the amount not to exceed $1,353,764.08.

In an effort to expedite the 2019 Orangewood Lift Station and Force Main Project, staff approached the contractor and requested that pricing of the scope of work remain the same as the current 2016 Sewer Improvement project currently underway and add the scope of work as a change order.  As a result of the change order, the project time frame would be expedited by eliminating the bid phase and contract phase cost and allow the private development along Massachusetts Avenue and Osteen Road to tie into the newly constructed force main without causing any construction delays for the developer.

The change order’s scope of work is the disconnection of the existing force main and wastewater treatment facility in the Orangewood Lakes Service’s utility.  The demolition of an existing substandard lift station and the reconnection of the existing force main to the newly installed duplex sewer lift station and two (2) manholes.  In addition, approximately 7,750 feet of eight (8) inch force main will be constructed.  The proposed eight (8) inch force main will tie into the new duplex sewer lift station located on Sunrunner Drive and run east to Osteen Road.  It will then turn north and head to Massachusetts Avenue where it will turn west and tie into the City’s existing system 12” force main located at Magnolia Valley Drive.
