The library advisory board met on August 24, 2020, and unanimously agreed to recommend Ron Becker to City Council for the Pasco County Library Cooperative Advisory Board vacancy previously filled by Joan Hook. Mr. Becker is a resident of the City of New Port Richey; a retiree of a 45-year career at Rutgers University Libraries in Special Collections and University Archives; current spiritual leader at the Jewish Community Center of West Pasco, Congregation Beth Tefillah; and a current member of the New Port Richey Library Advisory Board.
One seat on this board must be filled by a representative of the west side of Pasco County. According to Pasco County Code Sec. 58-41 (b) and (c) – “One member shall be appointed by the mayor and city council of the City of New Port Richey”. “All appointments made by the municipalities shall be subject to confirmation by the board of county commissioners.” The term of office is three years.
