REQUEST:
The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval Task Order No. 1 from Juturna Consulting LLC for professional services in the amount not to exceed $31,075 for the 2021 Risk and Resilience Assessment.
DISCUSSION:
On October 23, 2018, America’s Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA) was signed into law. It requires community water systems serving more than 3,300 people to develop or update their risk and resilience assessments (R&RAs) and emergency response plans (ERPs). In addition, the law specifies the components in which the risk assessments and the emergency response plans must address and establishes deadlines by which water systems must certify to the Environmental Protection Agency for completion of the R&RAs and ERPs. Subsequent to the City’s water system certification, staff shall be required to review their R&RAs and ERPs at least once every five (5) years after the applicable certification submission.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the attached task order is recommended.
