In February 2019, the Greater Pasco Chamber of Commerce (formerly the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce) entered into an agreement with the City to repay the outstanding amount due for delinquent rent and special event fees. The agreement called for the Chamber to pay $1,000/month until the total amount of $8,483.20 was paid in full. Since that time, the Chamber hosted two additional events, the 2018 and 2018 Holiday Parades, which added to the total amount owed by the Chamber. On August 4, 2020, I conducted a meeting with Mr. McClain to discuss the matter related to their indebtedness to the City. At the conclusion of the discussion, Mr. McClain stated that moving forward the Chamber would only be able to pay $500 towards the outstanding amount due to the current challenging economic times. The Chamber has included the additional $500/month with their normal rent payment for September and October.
It should also be noted that the agreement City Council approved in February 2019 contained an error regarding the monthly rent due from the Chamber. The agreement stated the amount was $400/month when in fact it should have stated $450/month. I addressed this issue with Mr. McClain and he agreed to have the Chamber pay the rent differential which would be incorporated into the $500/month total the Chamber will be paying.
As of October 8, 2020 the total amount owed is $5,318.20 and represents $950 in rent differential and $4,368.20 in charges for special events.
The attached agreement also amends the term of the lease to be a tenancy at will from month to month, regardless of when rent is due.
