The purpose of this agenda item is for City Council to review the preliminary design for the replacement of Fire Station No. 2 and provide comment and direction to the staff in regard to the advancement of the project. For some time now there has been discussion about the replacement of Fire Station No. 2 which is currently situated at 6121 High Street. In that regard, earlier this year the city entered into a contract with Spring Engineering for the design of the fire station to be constructed on property located on the northeast corner of Grand Boulevard and Marine Parkway. Since that time, a space needs assessment has been conducted to determine the requirements for the building. As a result of the assessment the staff is recommending a 7,876 sq. ft. building with two drive-thru bays. At this point in the design process Spring Engineering is prepared to present the building layout, site plan and proposed elevations.  The project budget is $2.4 million dollars and will be financed through the issuance of Non-Ad Valorem Revenue Bonds and paid for with Penny for Pasco Program funds.
