The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval the attached invoice from Duke Energy for the relocation of an existing electric transformer in the amount not to exceed $50,132.27.

As City Council is aware, the construction of a public parking structure on the S.E. corner of Main Street and US Hwy 19 behind Kaiser University is scheduled to begin in 2021.  As part of the design, electrical engineers from Duke Energy and the City’s contractor Kokolakis Contracting Incorporated reviewed the existing electrical grid in the area where the proposed parking structure is to be located and identified the need to relocate an existing electrical transformer.  The attached invoice is for the installation of a new utility pole, electrical lines, and transformer at a proposed location directly north of the Sun Trust Bank.
