| TO: | City of New Port Richey City Council | | FROM: | Robert M Rivera, Public Works Director | | DATE: | 3/23/2021 | | RE: | Discussion on Yard Debris Collection Program - Page 2 |
SUMMARY:
The purpose of this City Council work session is to advance a discussion related the City’s current yard debris collection program. As City Council is aware, the City’s existing yard debris collection program is a service available to residents and performed by the Public Works department. Yard debris is collected every six to eight weeks and ground into compost twice a year and is available at no cost to the general public. Over the last several years this program has been abused by illegal dumping of yard debris thru out the City Limits causing increased cost to the program, increased time limits between pickups, and larger piles of yard debris. All of which decrease the quality of life for our residents due to the unsightly debris piles.
REQUESTED ACTION:
Staff requests that City Council review the existing program and the proposed options presented and to direct accordingly.
