RE:Resolution No. 2021-33: City of New Port Richey Public Meeting Rules

REQUEST:
The request is for City Council to adopt Resolution No. 2021-33 which amends the rules for public meetings.

DISCUSSION:

On May 16, 2000, City Council adopted a resolution that established procedures for conducting City Council meetings. The resolution was subsequently amended on January 15, 2002 and November 5, 2013. The proposed resolution for your consideration amends the current rules as follows:

 

  • Moves Vox Pop to the end of the meeting agenda;
  • Limits Vox Pop speakers to two (2) minutes;
  • Limits the overall time for Vox Pop to twenty (20) minutes;
  • Provides priority to city residents or city business owners;
  • Provides priority to those who sign up to speak in advance.

 

If approved, the new rules will be effective immediately. 



RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council adopt Resolution No. 2021-33 which amends the rules for public meetings as submitted.

No funding is required for this item.
