REQUEST:
The request is for City Council to approve a three month extension on the lease agreement with Pasco County for the ballfields at Pine Hill.
DISCUSSION:
On October 21, 1986, the City entered into a lease agreement with Pasco County regarding the ballfields at Pine Hill Park. The lease was subsequently amended over the years and is due to expire on April 26, 2021. As you are aware, I have been in discussions for some time now with the County Administrator regarding the City's interest in the former Health Department building located on Main Street and Bank Street. During the course of the discussions, there was a proposal made to exchange the Pine Hill Ballfields for the building. The County contacted the City on March 15, 2021 and requested an extension on the current lease regarding Pine Hill Park. Although the County requested a longer term for the extension, I feel that it is in the best interest of the City to limit the term to three months in order to move the negotiations ahead in a more expeditious manner.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council approve the three month extension on the lease with Pasco County for the ballfields at Pine Hill as submitted.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
