The City’s Land Development Code does not contain design or construction guidelines relating to the establishment of multi-family residential developments. On December 15, 2020, City Council adopted an ordinance which placed a 180 day moratorium on the issuance of building permits. In order for staff to prepare an ordinance establishing design guidelines for multi-family developments. The proposed multi-family design guidelines provide guidance on the design of the buildings, site layout, and amenities. The proposed multi-family design guidelines provide the opportunity for the designer of the project to meet these standards in a variety of ways.
The Land Development Review Board (LDRB) reviewed the proposed multi-family design guidelines at three public meetings. Comments were received from the LDRB and public at these three public meetings. The proposed multi-family guidelines were revised based on comments received by the LDRB and the public. The LDRB unanimously recommended approval of the attached ordinance at their meeting held on May 20, 2021.
