REQUEST:
The request before council is to approve a request by John Gilliss to allow for a private beer and wine tent in Sims Park for the KIAFest 2021 celebration event in Sims Park on Saturday, June 26, 2021.
DISCUSSION:
As Council is aware, Mr. John Gilliss of Friendly Kia contacted staff in regards to holding the annual KIAFest celebration in Sims Park on Saturday, June 26, 2021. The event will include entertainment and the annual fireworks display. As part of the event, Mr. Gilliss has requested that he be allowed to provide a private beer and wine tent for his invited guests. Mr. Gilliss is requesting to serve the beer and wine from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Mr. Gilliss has committed to providing all necessary insurance and following all requirements requested by the City.
It should be noted that this is a special request by staff for City Council approval as the timing of this event does not allow for the proper application process to be followed as the event organizers have done for this event in previous years.
RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation before City Council is to approve the request by John Gilliss to allow for a private beer and wine tent in Sims Park for the KIAFest 2021 celebration event in Sims Park on Saturday, June 26, 2021 as submitted.
