RE:Rejection of Bids for ITB21-009 Fire Station No. 2 Relocation Project

REQUEST:

The request from staff for City Council is to review and consider the rejection of the attached bids submitted for the construction of Fire Station No. 2 Relocation Project ITB21-009.

 




DISCUSSION
:

On May 23, 2021 ITB21-009 was advertised for the construction of Fire Station No. 2 Relocation Project.  As City Council is aware, the plans and specifications were prepared by Spring Engineering.  On July 1, 2021 six (6) sealed bids were submitted to the City Clerk’s Office.  The six (6) sealed bids were announced and opened on July 2, 2021.  The bids ranged from $3,387,170 to $4,280,340 which exceeded the City’s allocated funding in the amount of $2.4 million or approximately $1 million over the allocated amount.

 

Due to the fact all of the bids submitted exceeded the allocated amount, staff is requesting City Council reject the bids, allow staff to perform value engineering and proceed with the Architect’s recommendation rebid the project at a later date once the market for materials has stabilized.



RECOMMENDATION:

Approval to reject all of the bids submitted is recommended.




BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds for the project rebid are allocated and identified as Series 2020 Bond proceeds
