REQUEST:
The request before City Council is to review the Bid Award for the construction of a Kayak Launch at the James E. Grey Preserve.
DISCUSSION:
The construction of a kayak launch was approved in the Capital Improvement Plan for the James E. Grey Preserve. Engineered plans were developed for both the James E. Grey Preserve and Frances Avenue Park. The projects were bid and three firms submitted proposals on August 20, 2015. American Marine Contractors, LLC from Crystal River, Florida submitted the lowest bid of $37,555 for the James E. Grey Preserve. References were contacted and the responses were very favorable on this firm.
RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation before City Council is to approve the construction of a kayak launch at the James E. Grey Preserve by American Marine Contractors, LLC. Including a construction contingency, the not to exceed amount for the project would be $42,000.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
