RE:Request to Purchase Two In-Car Camera Systems

REQUEST:
I respectfully request Council approval to purchase two (2) in-car video camera systems.

DISCUSSION:

I am requesting Council authorization to purchase two (2) in-car video camera systems for installation in the Department's two Community Oriented Policing officers' vehicles. These officers are routinely assigned to handle special traffic related details and other assignments where recording of the activities are important to successful prosecution.

 

Three written quotes were obtained for the purchase and installation of the cameras and video recording equipment. The Apollo Roadrunner System came in at the lowest price from Dana Safety Supply -- 5221 W. Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27409. The total for both systems is $10,528.



RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend Council authorize the purchase of two (2) Apollo Roadrunner in-car camera systems from Dana Safety Supply at a cost of $10,528.

BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
I recommend this purchase be paid from the Department's FY 2014/2015 budget.
