RE:Request to Purchase Communications Workstations

REQUEST:
I respectfully request Council authorization to purchase replacement Communications Dispatcher Workstations utilizing equitable sharing monies at a total cost of $44,043.00.

DISCUSSION:

The existing workstations in the Communications Division were purchased over 20 years ago when the Headquarters building was originally constructed. The workstations are staffed 24 hours a day every day. They are simply worn out and need replacement.

 

This proposal is to replace the workstations with heavy duty, ergonomically designed adjustable furniture that meets monitor and keyboard positioning guidelines for Visual Display Terminal Workstations. These stations will be purchased via Florida State Contract from XYBIX Systems, Inc. -- 8207 SouthPark Circle, Littleton, CO 80120. XYBIX Systems, Inc., which is a sole source supplier of this product.

 

This purchase includes installation and a five-year labor and six-year parts warranty managed directly through XYBIX.



RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend this purchase and installation from XYBIX Systems at a total cost of $44,043.00 using Equitable Sharing Funds.

BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no direct fiscal impact to the Police Department budget as this purchase will be made using Equitable Sharing Funds.
