RE:Request for Purchase and Installation of Equipment for K-9 Vehicle Use

REQUEST:

I respectfully request to use Equitable Sharing Funds for the purchase and installation of equipment to outfit a spare older vehicle specifically for K-9 use at a total cost of $8,026.90.



DISCUSSION:

One of our K-9 vehicles was totaled in a crash and a properly equipped vehicle is needed to keep the K-9 team working while waiting for a replacement vehicle. Once a new vehicle is purchased, the vehicle being outfitted by this proposal will remain as a spare vehicle for use whenever a regular K-9 vehicle is out of service.

 

The equipment needed includes: a temperature alarm, remote pager system, special door locking mechanisms, and carbon monoxide sensor. This equipment will be purchased and installed by JCO Corporation -- 2054 Platinum Road, Apopka, FL 32703




RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend Council authorize the use of Equitable Sharing Funds for this expense.

BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
There will not be any direct impact on the Department's FY 2021-2022 Budget as Equitable Sharing Funds will be used.
