This project was advertised for bid on December 22, 2021. The project scope was to resurface the Acivity Pool at the Recreation and Aquatics Center. Staff had requested funding in the FY 2021-2022 CIP to resurface this pool and has requested to schedule the resurfacing of each additional pool in the following 3 years. Staff had received a quote from a reputable contracted pool resurfacing company and based the funding request from that quote ($46,064). A mandatory pre-bid meeting was held on January 6, 2022 to review the project and three companies attended the meeting, including the company that had provided the quote. Acceptance of bids closed on January 27, 2022, and two (2) bids were received. The company providing the quote did not bid on the project citing a backlog of jobs and would schedule this job almost a year from date of acceptance of an agreement. The two (2) bids received were significantly over the amount of funding budgeted for the project.
Due to the fact all of the bids submitted significantly exceeded the allocated amount of funding, staff is requesting City Council reject the bids, and staff will be receiving a new quote to resurface two (2) pools in one project, and submit a new CIP request for Fiscal Year 2022-2023.
