REQUEST:
Staff requests City Council approval of the Ordinance amending Chapter 3, Sec. 3-5(b) regarding prohibition of the possession of open containers within the public sphere.
DISCUSSION:
From time to time it becomes necessary to amend portions of the code to address various issues that the City faces. In order to assist law enforcement with the enforcement of Sec. 3-5 it has become necessary to amend that portion of the code to address consumption of alcohol in additional areas of public and semi-public space. Additionally, open container(s) and possession have been addressed in the Ordinance to assist with the enforcement of City Code.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the proposed Ordinance relative to amending Sec. 3-5 regarding prohibition of consumption of alcoholic beverages on public, semi-public property.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
