RE:Board Appointment: Robert Marin, Police Pension Board

REQUEST:
The request is for City Council to approve the appointment of Robert Marin to the Police Pension Board.

DISCUSSION
:

As you are aware, Police Pension Board trustee, Al Renedo, submitted his resignation from the Board effective January 31, 2022 as he was moving out of the city limits. Since Mr. Renedo is one of two City-appointed trustees on the Board, it is necessary to find a qualified candidate to fill the remainder of his term. In that respect, I had some discussions with Robert Marin and he expressed his interest in the position on the Board. Mr. Marin has worked for Pasco County for many years and is a graduate of our inaugural Citizens Academy. I have no doubt that he is well suited to fulfill the responsibilities associated with a position on this Board. If approved, Mr. Marin's term on the Police Pension Board will be up for renewal on February 5, 2023 as outlined in the Board's Rules & Regulations provided by their attorney.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that City Council approve the appointment of Robert Marin to the Police Pension Board as submitted and accept the attached updated roster.
