RE:2022 KIAfest Alcoholic Beverage Special Event Permit

REQUEST:
The request before City Council is to review the Special Event Application and the Alcoholic Beverage Special Event Application and allow beer and wine to be sold and food truck vendors in Sims Park. As well as, beer and wine to be provided in the VIP tent, and food truck vendors at Sims Park during the annual KIAfest Event.

DISCUSSION:

The Special Event Team met to review the Special Event Application, Site Map, and Alcoholic Beverage Special Event Permit Application for the KIAfest Event on May 10, 2022.  The Not-For-Profit Wheelchairs 4Kids would like to offer beer and wine to be sold from beer trucks, and offer beer and wine in the Friendly Kia VIP tent at Sims Park on the day of the event, June 25, 2022.

 

The plan is to have two (2) beer trucks located in the park, from which alcohol will be sold.  The event will run from 4pm - 11:00pm and will include entertainment, food truck vendors, and the annual fireworks display.   In addition to the request to sell alcohol from the beer trucks, KIAfest organizers have requested that beer and wine be provided to guests within the VIP tent for invited guests.

 

The event organizers have committed to providing all necessary insurance and following all requirements requested by the city.



RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation before City Council is to approve the request from the Not-For-Profit Wheelchairs 4Kids to allow beer and wine to be sold, and food truck vendors at the KIAfest event in Sims Park.  As well as, allow for beer and wine to be provided to guests in the Friendly Kia VIP tent.
