RE:ITB22-012 Skate Park Design Project Bid Award

REQUEST:

The request before City Council is to award ITB22-012, Skate Park Update Design, to Platform Group of Tampa, Florida in an amount not to exceed $30,000.



DISCUSSION:

On March 16, 2022, ITB No. 2022-012, Skate Park Update Design, was released and made accessible to the public using the following venues: Onvia DemandStar, the City’s website, and notification of advertisement in Tampa Bay Times.   A total of four (4) reputable firms, that are qualified to perform Skate Park Design were also emailed notification that the ITB was available.   The City received proposals from two (2) firms, Platform Group of Tampa, Fl and American Ramp Company of Joplin, Mo.

 

Consistent with the city’s practices, staff reviewed each proposal and

both vendors have lengthy experience in the Skate Park Design Industry. 

 

Platform Group has quoted $25,000 with an owner’s contingency of $5,000 for a total of $30,000.  

 

American Ramp Company has quoted $24,500 with an owner’s contingency of $5,000 for a total of $29,500.  

 

Platform Group has quoted 7 – 10 weeks delivery.

American Ramp Company has quoted 14 weeks delivery.

 



RECOMMENDATION:

Based on several factors to include the condition of the existing skate park facility, the staff is recommending that it is in the best interest of the city to award the bid to Platform Group of Tampa, Florida as a result of the fact that they are offering a preferred project delivery schedule. 



BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding for this request is available in the FY2021-2022 Capital Improvement Program  budget account number 46399-9007.
