REQUEST: The action requested for the Board of Directors is to review and consider for approval the attached Change Order No. 1 submitted by Harbor Contracting in the amount not to exceed $142,915. In addition, staff would request that the Board of Directors review and consider for approve the attached budget amendment in the amount not to exceed $150,000. This dollar amount is currently identified in the City’s CRA budget as Redevelopment Incentives.
DISCUSSION:
As City Council may recall, City staff has been performing construction improvements surrounding Sims Park and the Hacienda Hotel in an effort to complement renovations to the hotel and meet level of service demands for the expected increase of pedestrian and vehicle traffic around Sim Park. Improvements have included the redesign and construction of the Gloria Swanson parking lot, sidewalk improvements and the installation of the “walk of fame” on the east side of the hotel as well as sidewalk improvements facing Main Street. The last planned improvements that are proposed are sidewalk, landscape, and hardscape improvements north and west of the hotel connecting into the park.
In an effort to expedite these planned improvements, staff approached Harbor Contracting to request a proposal in the form of a change order to the Orangewood Lakes Water System Improvement Project. In addition to the expedition of the project, the change order would eliminate the bid process cost that includes bid document creation and the bid advertisement process.
RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the change order and budget amendment are recommended.
BUDGET / FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding is identified as a budget amendment of $150,000 from CRA account 630552-44952 Redevelopment Incentives. | | | |
