RE:Request for Extension of Professional Services Agmt. w/Verra Mobility RE: Automated Traffic Enforcement System

REQUEST:

The request is to authorize the City Manager to enter into a sixty (60) day extension of the three-year contract with Verra Mobility related to the operation of the automated traffic enforcement system.

DISCUSSION
:

The current contract with American Traffic solutions, Inc., doing business as Verra Mobility relating to the city’s intersection safety program is due to lapse on June 21, 2022.  In that regard the staff has been involved in discussions with Verra Mobility for the purpose of negotiating the terms of a proposed contract.  At this point though it has become evident that additional time will be necessary to bring the discussions to closure.  Therefore, I am recommending a sixty-day (60) extension of the Fourth Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement in order to complete the discussions with Verra Mobility.

Incidentally, if this item is approved all terms of the Professional Services Agreement will remain the same.

RECOMMENDATION:

The recommendation is to authorize the City Manager to enter into a short term extension of the term of the professional services agreement so that the contract terms can be further negotiated.  If this recommendation is approved the Fifth Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement will be presented to you at your August 2, 2022 meeting for consideration.

BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:

This agenda item relates to a source of revenue to the city.
