REQUEST:
The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval the attached bid results submitted to the City for the bulk purchase of liquid polymer used in the treatment process of wastewater and award the sole bid to SNF Polydyne.
DISCUSSION:
On July 7, 2022 one (1) sealed bid package was received by the City Clerk and opened on July 8, 2022. As mentioned previously, the sole bid submission was from SNF Polydyne for the bulk purchase of liquid polymer at a cost of $1.75 per pound. This is an increase of 36.7% from the current rate of $1.28 per pound or approximately a $30,000 per year increase for the WWTP. As City Council may recall, liquid polymer is used in the drying process of sludge. Staff has reviewed and verified performance standards of the liquid polymer as describe in the bid documents and have confirmed that SNF Polydyne has met all of the terms of the bid documents. In addition, SNF Polydyne purchased the Fort Bend Company in 2021 the current supplier to the City under the existing purchasing contract.
RECOMMENDATION:
The recommended action by staff of Council is to approve the bid award for the purchase of liquid polymer to SNF Polydyne.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for the purchases is budgeted and available in the Water Pollution Control No. 401112-45221 operating budget. | | | |
