The request before City Council is to approve the recommendation from the Cultural Affairs Committee to provide assistance with funding in the amount of $4,710.00 to offset costs associated with the 9/11 Memorial and Remembrance event and a Tunnel to Towers traveling exhibit. The 9/11 event is  to be held on September 11, 2022, in conjunction with the Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit. 

As Council is aware, Mrs. Heather Fiorentino has been the Chair of the 9/11 Committee for many years.  Mrs. Fiorentino attended the July 20, 2022 Cultural Affairs Committee meeting to discuss the annual event. The 9/11 Memorial and Remembrance Ceremony is planned to be held on September 11^th in Sims Park again this year, with the addition of a  mobile exhibit. The 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit is planned to be on display for 3 days and open to the public at no cost. The exhibit is a tool to further educate people across the country. 

 The 9/11 Memorial and Remembrance Ceremony has been held annually at Sims Park on September 11^th for 21 years.

The Cultural Affairs Committee voted during the July 20, 2022 meeting to recommend to City Council to support the Memorial and Remembrance, and the Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Never Forget Exhibit.

The Cultural Affairs Committee supports hosting the Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Never Forget Exhibit as an added educational tribute to the annual Memorial and Remembrance.
