REQUEST:
The request before City Council is to approve the recommendation from the Cultural Affairs Committee on the art design of a mural, as presented, to be installed as the Main Street Food Mart Mural.
Upon City Councils approval of the mural design, the recommendation from the Cultural Affairs Committee is to provide funding in the amount of $ 3,000 dollars for the installation of the Main Street Food Mart Mural.
DISCUSSION:
The proposed project is a "feel good" mural following the regulations as stated in Ordinance #2026-2090. The Design Committee of the New Port Richey Main Street organization has accepted the mural design based on the mural application and graphic representation. The mural depicts a colorful sunburst with a positive message "It's a Sunny Day".
The Cultural Affairs Committee voted during the April 20, 2022 meeting to recommend to City Council to approve design and installation of the Main Street Food Mart Mural on the West facing wall on Jefferson Street side of the building (100' L x 30' H) located at 5912 Main Street.

RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation before City Council is for approval of the recommendation from the Cultural Affairs Committee for art design, installation and to fund the Main Street Food Mart Mural project in the amount of $3,000 dollars.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this request in the amount of $3,000 is available in the Cultural Affairs Committee budget acct. no. 001011-44810. | | | |
