RE:2022 N. River Neighborhood Improvements Project - Engineering Services Task Order No.16

REQUEST:

The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval Task Order No. 16 from Stroud Engineering Consultants, Inc. for engineering services in the amount not to exceed $167,580 for the proposed 2022 N. River Neighborhood Improvements project.




DISCUSSION
:

As Council is aware, this project is included in the 2022/2026 Capital Improvement Program. Several public meetings were held to gather input from residents during the development design phase. In addition to public input, the consultant and City staff verified existing site conditions, right of way limits, and possible construction conflicts, as well as topography data for the purpose of creating concept plans and a project estimate of probable construction cost.

 

Proposed construction improvements along N. River Road include the removal and replacement of the existing sidewalk on the east side of N. River Road.  Hardscape, landscape, roadway striping and the installation of LED crosswalk system for pedestrian crossings, traffic lane narrowing, bike lane symbols, and the straightening of the intersections located at N. River Road and Veterans Drive and Legion Place and Veterans Drive.  This task order is for the design, bid, and construction phases.




RECOMMENDATION:

Approval of Task Order is recommended.




BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds for this project are identified and allocated in the City's current Capital Improvement Program as Local Option Gas Tax Dollars.
