| TO: | City of New Port Richey City Council | | FROM: | Barret H. Doe, Assistant Public Works Director | | DATE: | 12/20/2022 | | RE: | Request for CIP Purchase for Two Wilo Submersible Pumps |
REQUEST:
The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval the purchase of two (2) Wilo (brand) submersible 15.5 horsepower pumps at cost of $20,679.00.
DISCUSSION:
The CIP funds for the two Wilo pumps was originally budgeted for the Schreiber tank blower at the cost of $35,000.00, however the Wastewater Treatment Plant staff have been experiencing several issues with the Schreiber tank structure recently and are currently in the evaluation/troubleshooting process of how to handle the issues with the tank. That being said, staff feels that the purchase of the Schreiber tank blower at this time needs to be put on hold. Subsequent to putting this project on hold, staff is recommending that we use the budgeted funds for the purchase of two (2) Wilo (brand) 15.5 horsepower pumps to be used for the facility’s lift station #3, the plant’s oldest lift station. One of the pumps for lift station #3 is currently inoperable and needs to be replaced and the second purchased pump will serve as redundancy should one of the two pumps go down.
RECOMMENDATION:
Purchase of two (2) Wilo (brand) submersible 15.5 horsepower pumps at cost of $20,679.00.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds for this project are identified in the City's current Capital Improvement Program. Also of note, by interlocal agreement, Pasco County will contribute 49.3% of the cost for the purchase of the two pumps. | | | |
