| TO: | City of New Port Richey City Council | | FROM: | Barret H. Doe, Assistant Public Works Director | | DATE: | 1/3/2023 | | RE: | 2023 Advanced Metering Infrastructure System (AMI) Project – Piggyback Agreement |
REQUEST:
The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval the attached agreement between Citrus County, FL (County) & Core & Main LP (Vendor), and for the City to piggyback off of the agreement to complete the 2023 Advanced Metering Infrastructure System (AMI) Project.
DISCUSSION:
As Council may recall, at the May 17, 2022 regular City Council Meeting, Public Works presented to you the proposal to purchase 7,477 new IPERL potable water meters to replace older, outdated water meters within the City’s potable water system. At that time City Council approved the purchase and we have moved forward with ordering the new water meters. In order to have the new water meters installed in a realistic and timely manner, the City would need to contract out the work to remove and replace the 7,477 existing meters. The attached agreement between Citrus County and Core & Main LP is ideal for the City to piggyback off of in order to expediate the process of having a contractor come in and replace the 7,477 water meters in need. Again, direct purchase of the meters has been initiated by the City and the services of a contractor will be utilized by the City for the removal and replacement of the meters at a cost not to exceed $500,000.00. The 7,477 new IPERL meters are expected to arrive by late May or early June, and it is anticipated that the contractor will have them all installed before the end of 2023.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of agreement between Citrus County and Core & Main LP, and for the City to piggyback off of the agreement is recommended.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds for this project are identified in the City's current Capital Improvement Program in the Water & Sewer Construction Fund (405). | | | |
