All of our police officers are issued Glock Model 35, 40 caliber pistols as their duty weapons. Officers in some specialized positions are also issued Glock Model 27 pistols. The weapons currently in use are nearly ten years old. Thousands of rounds of ammunition have been fired through them which results in normal wear. To ensure reliable function as duty weapons, Glock, Inc. recommends the inspection and possible replacement of the magazines, extractor, firing pin, firing pin safety, recoil spring assembly, and Glock night sights which can total approximately $174.00 per pistol. None of our pistol components have been proactively inspected and are only repaired when a malfunction occurs. The purchase and replacement of these critical parts is anticipated to approach or exceed the replacement cost of our current pistols.
This is an opportune time to trade in these weapons and replace them new upgraded pistols at a substantial savings.
Quotes for replacements have been obtained from three authorized Florida Glock distributors. Lawmen’s & Shooters’ Supply, Inc. 701 Columbia Blvd., Titusville, FL 32780, provided the lowest quote for Glock Model 45 pistols, pistol lights, and holsters.
