RE:First Reading, Ordinance No. 2023-2269: Amendment to Chapter 12 of the LDC RE: Detached Garages

REQUEST:

The request before the City Council is to consider the attached ordinance to allow detached garages to be built in the front yard with conditions.



DISCUSSION:

The Land Development Code currently allows accessory structures to be placed only in the rear and side yards. 

 

The proposed ordinance would allow for detached garages to be located in the front yard under specific conditions.  These conditions include but are not limited to requiring the detached garage to be placed within all existing setbacks and be architecturally compatible with the primary structure. 

 

Additionally, no variances would be allowed for a reduction in the front yard setback.



RECOMMENDATION:

The Land Development Review Board reviewed the ordinance and recommends that the City Council approve the ordinance.



BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact to the City.
