RE:	2023 Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration - Alcoholic Beverage Special Event

REQUEST:
The request before City Council is to review the request for beer to be sold in Sims Park for the 2023 Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration to be held Sunday January 15, 2023.

DISCUSSION:

A meeting was held with the event organizers, John Gillis/Friendly Kia and the African American Club of Pasco County on December 29th, 2022 to discuss alcohol sales. The African American club of Pasco County will offer beer to be sold in Sims Park as follows: Sunday January 15th from 1:00 pm- 4:00 pm.

Insurance listing the City as Additionally Insured will be obtained from the event organizer prior to the event, and the Alcoholic Beverage Application/Permit will be signed and secured.

RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation before City Council is to approve the Alcoholic Beverage Special Event request submitted by John Gillis/Friendly Kia and The African American Club. Approval will allow beer to be sold in Sims Park at the 2023 Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration as detailed in the Discussion section on this agenda item.
