The Land Development Code currently allows accessory structures to be placed only in the rear and side yards.
The proposed ordinance would allow for detached garages to be located in the front yard under specific conditions. These conditions include but are not limited to requiring the detached garage to be placed outside all existing setbacks and be architecturally compatible with the primary structure.
This version of the ordinance has been amended from the First Reading, to allow for additional architectural considerations to ensure views onto the entrance of the primary structure.
Additionally, no variances would be allowed for a reduction in the front yard setback.
