REQUEST:
The action requested of the CRA Directors is to review and consider for approval the attached proposal in the not to exceed amount of $45,505.40 from Cross Construction Services, Incorporated for the demolition of the former Christian Science Church and single-family structure to the south of the former church. Pricing, terms and conditions are in accordance with Pasco County term contract No.BE733.
DISCUSSION:
As the CRA Directors may recall, in 2006 the City’s CRA purchased the former Christian Science Church for redevelopment purposes. The purchase included the parishioner’s home and property south of the Church. Both structures were built in 1965 and are in a major state of decline. Since 2006, City staff has tried to maintain both structures until they could be resold or redevelopment. As time has gone by, this has become more difficult. Both structures are in need of major roof reconstruction and replacements. Asbestos material removal and replacement and various other reconstruction activities are cost prohibitive should both properties be redeveloped. Subsequent to a review by the City’s Facility Maintenance staff, a recommendation to demolish both structures has been advised.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the attached proposal is recommended.
BUDGET / FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for the demolition project is charged to the CRA’s Property Assemblage Account No. 630080 46399 4006.
