The scope of this project is to resurface the Acivity Pool at the Recreation and Aquatics Center. The pool surface has become coarse over time and conducive to black algae, and a number of items need repair to remain code compliant.
Staff requested funding in the FY 2021-2022 CIP to resurface the Activity Pool. The project was bid with the two (2) the bids submitted significantly exceeded the allocated amount of funding. At staff request City Council reject the bids with a plan to fund and re-bid the project in Fiscal Year 2022-2023.
On February 1, 2023, ITB No. 2023-016, Activity Pool Resurfacing Bid Award was released and made accessible to the public using the following venues:Onvia DemandStar, the City’s website, and notification of advertisement in Tampa Bay Times.
A bid opening was held on March 3, 2023. The City received proposals from two (2) firms, Electro-Mechanic Industries dba Vermana, Orlando, Florida for $222,550 and Aumiller Pools LLC with a bid of $147,500.
CIP funds originally budgeted for this project in FY 2022-2023 totals $100,000. The low bid of $147,500 submitted by Aumiller Pools exceeds the amount by $47,500.
The addtional funds needed to complete this project in the amount of $47,500 will be allocated from American Rescue Plan Act funds.
