RE:Lease Agreement between the City of New Port Richey Community Redevelopment Agency and the Richey Community Orchestra RE: 6128 U.S. Highway 19 - Page 9

REQUEST:

The request is to authorize the Executive Director to enter into a lease agreement for a portion of property located at 6128 U.S. Highway 19 with Richey Community Orchestra for a period of six (6) months with a renewable period of six (6) months.

DISCUSSION:

As I am sure that you will recall, some discussion took place at the special City Council meeting on April 6, 2023 about the needs of the Richey Community Orchestra.  In particular though an interest was expressed in utilizing some city owned property to house a music library for a temporary period of time. Since that time a review of available city-owned property has taken place and it has been determined that the most suitable location to accommodate the storage would be the former SunTrust building.

In that respect, Denise Isaacson, representing the Richey Community Orchestra, has indicated that a lease term of six (6) months would be an appropriate amount of time for the group to find a location to store their music library on a permanent basis.

Incidentally, under the terms of the proposed lease I am not proposing that any amount of rent or other expenses be collected by the city.

RECOMMENDATION:

The recommendation is to authorize the Executive Director to enter into a lease agreement with Richey Community Orchestra for a portion of the building situated at 6128 U.S. Highway 19 for a six (6) month period with a renewable term of an additional six (6) months with the approval of the Lessee and Lessor’s Executive Director.
