TO: | City of New Port Richey City Council | FROM: | Kim Bogart, Chief of Police | DATE: | 12/1/2015 | RE: | Request to Purchase Police Vehicle Emergency Equipment |
REQUEST:
I respectfully request approve the purchase and installation of emergency equipment and accessories for five SUVs and one pick-up truck a cost of $62,916.50 from Dana Safety Supply Inc.
DISCUSSION:
In the FY 2015/2016 budget, Council approved the purchase of four Ford SUVs, one Chevy Tahoe SUV and one Ford pick-up truck. It is necessary to equip those vehicles with emergency equipment, the cost of which was included in the budget calculations. The SUVs, four of which are for police patrol use and one is for K-9 use, require emergency lighting, sirens, computer mounts, rifle and shotgun racks, prisoner partitions, front and rear facing camera systems, and accessories. The one (1) pick-up truck, which is for code enforcement use, requires emergency lighting and a computer mount system.
The recommended supplier for the listed equipment is Dana Safety Supply – 5221 W. Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27409. Their quoted prices meet or exceed the City of Tampa Bid No. 41061914, Light Bars and Accessories with Installation, Spec. No. 2-14. The City of Tampa awarded the bid to Dana Safety Supply for the period from July 31, 2014 through July 30, 2016 and it is for like equipment and installation. Dana Safety Supply will perform the equipment installations at their office located at 3810 W. Osborne Avenue, Tampa, FL 33614.
RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend the purchase and installation of emergency lighting and other accessories for five SUVs and one pick-up truck from Dana Safety Supply, Inc. at a cost of $62,916.50.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: This equipment will be purchased using Penny for Pasco II dollars; therefore, there will not be a direct fiscal impact to the police department budget. | | | |
