| TO: | City of New Port Richey City Council | | FROM: | Robert M Rivera, Public Works Director | | DATE: | 12/15/2015 | | RE: | Consideration of 2015/2016 Sewer Utility Improvements Engineering Task Order No. 16 |
REQUEST:
The request of staff for the City Council to review and consider for approval is Task Order No. 16 from Stroud Engineering Consultants, Inc. in the amount of one hundred two thousand, three hundred dollars and zero cents ($102,300.00) for engineering services associated with the 2015/2016 Sewer Utility Improvements Project.
DISCUSSION:
The project scope of the planned work is separated into two (2) main components. Component one is sanitary sewer force main construction which will occur in two different locations. The first location begins at the existing lift station located at Louisiana Avenue and Lafayette Street and will tie into the newly installed six inch (6") force main at Grand Boulevard and Dailey Lane. The existing six inch (6") cast iron force main is severely deteriorated due to stresses and age; this pipe will be abandoned, capped, and replaced. The second location begins at Frances Avenue Park lift station, proceeds west on Louisiana Avenue and ties into the existing ten inch (10") force main stub out located at Grand Boulevard. This proposed work calls out for the existing cast iron pipe to be abandoned, capped, and replaced as well. Finally, the second component of the work involves the rehabilitation of two (2) older sanitary sewer lift stations, one located on Marine Pkwy west of Hemlock Drive and the other located on Avery Road at Court Street. Both are approaching the end of the their serviceable life and are in need of system upgrades. The proposed expansion and lift station rehabilitation is identified in the City of New Port Richey Utility System Master Plan document as a recommended ongoing utility capital improvement.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the do not exceed Task Order No. 16 is recommended.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
