REQUEST:
The request before City Council is to approve the bid award for the construction of a Kayak Launch, and to approve the quote for ADA parking spaces and connector sidewalk to the kayak launch at Frances Avenue Park.
DISCUSSION:
The construction of a kayak launch was approved in the Capital Improvement Plan for Frances Aveune Park. Engineered plans were developed and bids were received from three firms. American Marine Contractors, LLC from Crystal River, Florida was the lowest bidder in the amount of $43,028. References were contacted and a very favorable response was received about this firm.
This project also calls for the construction of two ADA parking spaces and a sidewalk connector to the kayak launch. Three quotes were received and Dan Roush Residential Contractor, Inc. submitted the lowest quote in the amount of $3800. The total project cost for the parking pad, sidewalk and kayak launch is $46,828.
RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation before City Council is to approve the construction of a kayak launch at Frances Avenue Park by American Marine Contractors, LLC in the amount of $43,028. It is further recommended that City Council approve the construction of two ADA parking spaces and a connector sidewalk to the kayak launch by Dan Roush Residential Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $3800.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this project is available in the Recreation Division Budget in account number 001-0092-572-63-99, Improvements Other than Buildings, in the amount of $50,000. | | | |
