Substantial funds of money have been made available to Pasco County through the Resources and Ecosystem Sustainability, Tourist Opportunities, and Revived Economies of the Gulf Coast States Act of 2012 (“RESTORE ACT”), which established the Gulf Coast Restoration Trust Fund. A multi-year implementation plan was submitted to the United States Department of Treasury and consisted of multiple projects, one of which was the Orange Lake Restoration Project. The Orange Lake project includes: the dredging of the lake to the greatest extent possible; construction of littoral shelves to allow for vegetation to uptake excess nitrogen and phosphorous; installation of aeration/diffusion devises; construction of a storm-water control gate; and installation of a continuous deflection separation unit. The combined results of these efforts should result in restoring water quality.
The total amount of the City’s Restore Act allocation obligated by this Agreement shall not exceed $100,000.00.
