TO: | City of New Port Richey City Council | FROM: | Robert M Rivera, Public Works Director | DATE: | 1/19/2016 | RE: | 2014/2015 Recreation & Aquatic Center Water Main Relocation Project Close-Out |
REQUEST:
The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval the Final Deductive Change Order in the amount of seventy-nine thousand two hundred seventy-four dollars and three cents ($79,274.03) and the Final Pay Request in the amount of forty thousand seven hundred fifty dollars and ninety-four cents $40,750.94 from Dallas 1 Construction and Development, LLC. for the completion of the 2014/2015 Recreation & Aquatic Center Water Main Relocation Project.
DISCUSSION:
As Council may recall, this project was the result of staffs review process of the proposed fitness center expansion at the Recreation and Aquatic Center. The existing eight inch (8”) water main was located near the south side of the building under the existing pool deck and near the activity pool. Subsequent to the review, it was the opinion of staff that the water main had the potential to create extensive damage to the facility should a water break occur. Design relocation options were discussed and the water main was relocated around the outside of the court yard in the green space away from the building.
The deductive change order was the result of utility inspector field adjustments, strict implementation of project schedule of values resulting in lower miscellaneous road material quantities, and the non expenditure of the owners contingency.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the final deductive change order and final pay request are recommended.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding is available in the Water and Sewer Revenue Fund and are identified in the City’s current Capital Improvement Program as Water System Improvements-Misc. Projects account No. 405-0955-533-63.81
