TO: | City of New Port Richey City Council | FROM: | Robert M Rivera, Public Works Director | DATE: | 1/19/2016 | RE: | 2014/2015 Madison Street Bridge Node/Overlook Rehabilitation Project Close-Out |
REQUEST:
The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval the Final Deductive Change Order in the amount of ten thousand eight hundred seventy-three dollars and fifty cents ($10,873.50) and the Final Pay Request in the amount of sixty-four thousand seven hundred twenty-six dollars and fifty cents $64,726.50 from Stable Soils of Florida, Inc. for the completion of the 2014/2015 Madison Street Bridge Node/Overlook Rehabilitation Project.
DISCUSSION:
As Council may recall, at its regularly scheduled meeting on October 20, 2015 staff submitted and Council approved, a request to for funds for the Madison Street Bridge Nodes/Overlooks Emergency Rehabilitation Project. Subsequent to an inspection by Public Works staff of the bridge, it was determined that several voids existed under the sidewalk areas and nodes on the S.E., N.E., and N.W. corners. These types of voids suggested hydraulic movement caused by river tides which created the settlement of sidewalk areas, node caps, and shifting of the block walls. The engineer’s recommendation for remediation was a process used for seawall repairs by stabilizing the soil directly behind and below of the structures.
The deductive change order was the result of less material used to stabilize the soil and the non expenditure of the owner’s contingency.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the final deductive change order and final pay request are recommended.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding is identified as Penny for Pasco Two tax dollars Capital Project account No. 301-0301-541-63-43.
