REQUEST:
The action requested of City Council is to review and consider approval of the attached proposal from Ford of Port Richey in the amount not to exceed $41,995.00 for the purchase of a 2015 Two Ton Dump Truck. Unit pricing in the 2015 Florida Sheriffs Association and Florida Association of Counties #14-12-0904 contract identified the purchase price as $46,306.00. Three (3) additional proposals were requested by staff from Bartow Ford, Davidson Ford, and Action Fabrication; all of which declined to bid on the 2015 Model.
DISCUSSION:
As Council is aware, the Grounds Maintenance Division performs several tasks that requires the use of a dump truck. These tasks range from special event trash hauling, mulch hauling, site grading, tree removal and tree trimming, river clean up and debris removal. The existing 1999 dump truck has 94,624 miles and is 17 years old. It has a high maintenance cost and has serviced its useful life.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the purchase is recommended.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
This piece of equipment is budgeted in the 2015-2016 Capital Equipment/Improvement Plan in the Grounds Maintenance Division #110 account #001-0110-539-64-15. Once the equipment is received, fleet staff will outfit the vehicle with equipment from the existing vehicle prior to being released for service.
