The majority of the fitness center equipment at the Recreation and Aquatic Center was purchased in 2007 and has been heavily used since opening day in May of that same year.  The equipment is outdated and in constant need of repair. 

Funding for new fitness equipment is in the budget and a Request For Quotes has been advertised.  Once the new fitness equipment is purchased, the old equipment will need to be removed from the facility.  The old equipment is not covered under a current warranty and when repairs are needed, often times it is difficult to find replacement parts.  

The Athletic Director and the Assistance Principal at Gulf High School have expressed interest in the fitness equipment and the school will assume full responsibility for the removal and maintenance of all equipment.  Although the equipment is old, it surpasses the equipment the school currently has.  Gulf High School does not have funding to purchase fitness equipment and it is felt that the donation will greatly benefit the students in the school.
