The seven-acre site is located on the southern terminus of Congress Street. It is an undeveloped parcel that has a small upland area and mostly wetlands. It has frontage on a canal to its north and the Pithlaschascotee River to the west and south. The site has a land use designation of Conservation Category. The City purchased the adjacent 6.93-acre site to the east in January 2015 ($175,000). The spoil island to the west was purchased by the City in June 2015 ($10,000).
The site is currently owned by the Florida Wildlife Federation which is a private, statewide, non-profit citizens' conservation education organization. The intended use of the property is for an expansion of the park system.
